RE: Mount Rushmore to Glacier NP?

Pay attention to the time of year. This year Going to the Sun road in Glacier was closed until almost July. We were there in early June and they were still getting lots of snow both in the high country and down at Lake McDonald. Sounds like us Texans will be heading North next year. We are working on a trip plan to the badlands and to Rocky Mtn NP.

RE: CG near Denton TX

I saw the Factory Outlet park mentioned but could not find any info. If you find a website that would be good. I may also just call the factory outlet office up there. Once again that you for all of your suggestions. We are thinking far ahead at this point and will be posting reqests for additional loactions as we put it together.

RE: CG near Denton TX

Thanks for the suggestions. We really like the COE and State Parks. But as we will be coming up 35W Hickory Creek is a bit out of the way. WTTCS, I assume you mean Sunshine Farms RV Park east of Gainesville. Either that one or Red River Ranch in Thackerville is all that I would need. Alex

CG near Denton TX

We will be making a trip North from Austin on a Friday night and would like to get up to or North of Denton before we stop for the night. I am looking for a low cost CG with 30A, don't need any other hook ups as it is just for the night. Any suggestions? Thanks!

RE: Tips for fitting 2 6V batteries on tounge of 21SB

We used to have a 21SB. To put 2 batteries on and clear the support poles we turned the LP tanks 90 degrees so that they are placed for and aft along the centerline. Then we mounted 2 group 24 12V batteries, 1 on either side of the propane tanks.

RE: How big of a generator to run my trailer

I just placed my order for a Subaru Robin 3800W continuous, 4300W peak for $1300. Check out the del on Costco.com under Hardware > Alternative Power Systems > Portable Generators it is good until 10/3.

RE: Great deal at Costco

I though it was a good deal. I will not have to worry if I have enough power for my 15K AC unit. Getting rated output of 3800W vs 3K for the Yahama, Kipor or Honda and going with either of those would have forced me to buy 2 of the smaller units for more money. Yes it may be slightly louder than the Honda or the Yahama but still quiter than the Kipor. So for the price $1300 I placed my order. I'll let everyone know how it works once it comes in.

RE: New to TT world

The HW bypass is most likely a hose that is tied between the input and output of the HW lines right at the tank with 1 or 2 valves that will need to be switched to route the water through the bypass. You would then need to remove the drain on the HW heater from the outside and drain out the water. You should also make a label that you hang over the HW switch after you drain the tank to make sure you do not turn on the heater while it is empty. You'll cook the elements very quickly. Let us know if you have questions.

RE: turning radius of TV

I will not be doing U turns in traffic while pulling my TT so the turing radius is not a big factor. When I am not pulling a trailer I do not try to make a tight U turn unless I will have enough time to back up a bit if I don't make it in one try.

RE: Travel with your furnace on ???

I have a follow up question on this subject. When my super slide is in for transport it covers I think 3 of the 6 floor heat outlets. I would think this would be a strain on the fan and also worry about the hot air blowing on the underside of the slide floor/carpet. Do you think this is a problem or would it be OK to run the furnace during travel? Thanks.

RE: Gas ?????????

The one thing you guys are missing is that we have not built a new refinery in more than 20 years due to NIMBY and the increasing regulations. While there is a major refurb project going on just east of Houston. It is not clear to me that a major move in the price of the crude will dramaticaly affect the cost of refined gas and diesel. While I don''t like paying high gas prices, if you really believe that we need to increase effiency of autos, it does seem to have a bearing on the type of cars people demand. So when I pull my TT it is painful but the offerings of new cars sure does look better than before. Maybe the increases are OK in the long run.:@

RE: What do you call those diversion thangy's

I took a couple small trianglar shaped pieces of fiberglass board, available at Lowes, and caulked them at the corners where the front edged of the tub meets the wall.

RE: Dealer going out of business. Do you pick up your trailer?

I hope everything works out here the one area I would be most concerned with is getting the title work done properly. Having a loan may help as the bank would be motivated to make sure thier lean is filed. I do have to say just because a RV dealer goes out of business does not mean they have to treat the last customers like crap. The dealer that I bought my Laredo from in MS went out of business a couple of months after I bought it. I was working with tme on a couple of small accessory and service items and the owner could not have been nicer. He did his best to honor his commitments but in the end he called personally and said he just could not take care of the last couple of issues. It really comes down to the personality of the people involved. In our case it was a smaller dealer that cared about the business not just one milking it for the cash. This is one reason that I perfer to deal with the smaller shops than the big super stores.

RE: Keeping TT level during the winter???

I used to park out last TT on a board on one sire all of the time, including over the winter. Never had a problem. I would think you will be just fine.

RE: Best Electric Tongue Jack

Yup I have a Barker 3500. Works great, now on it's 2nd trailer. Did have a switch fail and received free parts and a weather cover just by asking. Atwood is also known for good customer service.

RE: Storage Questions

Good quality battery switches can be had at a marine supply or on the web. I use a switch very close to what Chuck has. Mine is made by Blue Sea Systems. The good thing about the marine switches is that they are made to be out in the weather. Alex

RE: Starcraft Air - Ducted or Not? Importance???

Our TravelStar HTT A/C was not ducted. Worked fine as long as you kept the bunk curtains open for air flow. But it was loud. Out Laredo TT is ducted and it is much quieter but that may be also due to the larger camper and more soft materials damping the noise. My preference is to go with ducted. On the TT with ability to close off the sleeping areas I like having the AC outlet and not having to leave the door and bunk curtains open.

RE: How to keep the bumper end caps on

We installed a set of bumper hatches, hinge foward. Drilled a small hole through the flange on the hatch and bumper, installed a small stainless steel bolt with a nyloc nut. Worked so well on my HTT we now did it to the TT. http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/bumper-hatch-set-of-2/34416 Alex

RE: location of ac in the TT

Having had both the blow from center and now a ducted AC. I perfer the ducted style as I find it a bit quiter and less of a breeze blowing around the trailer so the AC is more balanced in temp.

RE: Any Carpet Storage Ideas?

We are too cheap to make up a storage tube etc. And I'm not a fan of putting a sandy or dirty rung into a bag. So we have a length of 1 inch PVC capped on both ends that we use as a center to roll the rung around. Then just stuff it between the spare tire support and the read of the trailer then bungie it to the bumper. When we get home I shake it out, roll it back up and stand it in the corner of the garage. I just takes a minute to load on the rear when it's time for the next trip.
